Description: The Flange Ride is a very rare model, 3 seen out of 1,000 cymbals examined. Known examples date from the early 1950s through mid 1950s based on trademarks. They seem to be part of the innovation of an edge flange which included Hi Hats. The 1948/9 year comes from an ad for Bop Flange Hats and a Zildjian catalog.

The Flange Hi Hats continued in production through the 1950s and early 1960s, then reappeared for a short time in the early 1970s. The Flange Ride appears to have dropped out after the mid 1950s, although it resurfaced as a Sabian ride cymbal in the early 1980s. These were later named Sound Control. There were also flange crashes in the Sabian offering.
