Review: Here it is...the famous Sound Creation Dark Ride. It is certainly dark, perhaps one of the darkest rides I've ever heard. It has a nice amount of stick definition. If you can imagine the "ping" that a medium-heavy ride has, and then bend the pitch down, and add some exotic-ness, then you'd have this. I still am not sure why Paiste went with such a heavy weight ride as its original "dark" model. (maybe they're not either) It does have quite a bit of body, a wash that has some fairly complex overtones, and at times, a hard to describe sound altogether. The hammer marks are separated, large, and deep. The bell is small, but sounds nice when hit with the taper of the stick. If you're the type who likes to add some crashes on the edge while you tap it on the profile, this has a great warm spread when crashed.
