Its raw, unlathed bell chimes out when shanked, while riding on the bow sets up an even wash with a clean, balanced “ping.” A drummer for a hugely successful pop band (who shall remain nameless) heard me play these cymbals at a club gig, and the first thing he asked was, “Man, what was that ride cymbal? It sounds great!” The 21" ride also sounds pretty good. It just seemed a little confined-sounding when compared to the well-balanced 22 (more “ping” and less wash).<br> | + | '''Review:''' "The 22" ride provides a warm bed of sound that’s also articulate and clear. Review: This has a silvery and trashy sound, at least to my ears. Its heavy weight lends to its nice stick definition over a warm wash. This is probably the heaviest "Ride" model that Paiste has ever made. (That is, among the "regular" Rides, not ones with "heavy" or "power" in them.) The raw bell is great sounding as well. Made with Turkish blanks, the Twenty series was a bit of a departure for Paiste. Sadly the series was cancelled prematurely, as I'm sure if things had gone differently, the series would still be produced today.
