HHX
Introduction: 2001
Background: A "modern" dark sound to contrast the "vintage" dark sound of the HH series. The "X" stands for "tone projection", a feature that adds cutting power to HH character.2
Innovation: Less hammering than the HH line
Alloy: B20
Quality: Professional
Offered as: HHX - HHX Evolution - HHX Legacy - HHX Complex - HHX Anthology
Production: Machine hammering with supplemental hand hammering
Applications: All volume settings • Live playing and recording • Entire range of music styles
Users:
Sound:
Notes: Although it is more common with the HH series, the HHX series sometimes has a signature on the underside of the bell. This signature is not of the cymbalsmith but is "Sabian" rendered in Armenian (Սաբիան) (per Sabian).
The Manhattan Jazz models came into production in 2000 and discontinued sometime in 2018/2019, and they were initially apart of the HH series. Despite moving series "they were both the same design" (per Sabian).
