If you compare this to a [[Paiste 2002 18" China|2002 18' China]], you'll see that this is heavier, but not by much - actually the weights collected for that model's 1970s production is the same as this. This is basically a heavy 2002 18" China with no lathing, so perhaps Paiste just uses the overweight ones destined for that line to make these? Review: One of the best Chinas I have used thus far in 15 years. Gives a perfect, raw, aggressive, china sound at all levels. Hard, crisp sustain. Not as loud as other Rudes, but gets the job done very nicely! This would make for a great china playing with any style of music, however, better suited for louder styles.

Review: The 18 RUDE is a very good stable dynamic china with a unique "earthy/raw" sound. It crashes, rides, pings, and explodes great and you can gong it sometimes also.

Review: The sound is raw, and maybe it's just me, but I hear a bit of "kang" as well. Being a RUDE, I did expect it to be a bit louder, and with a longer sustain though. But, to be fair, I had a 22" Novo China on the stand just prior to this, so maybe it suffers by comparison. This is a nice sounding china, and I think that those people identifying this series as just for the heaviest of music would be pleasantly surprised. If you compare this to a 2002 18' China, you'll see that this is heavier, but not by much - actually the weights collected for that model's 1970s production is the same as this. This is basically a heavy 2002 18" China with no lathing, so perhaps Paiste just uses the overweight ones destined for that line to make these? Well, I don't work in Nottwil, so who's to say, but that hopefully will give you an idea of what this cymbal is.
