Review: "Candela Percussion Splashes are offered in three sizes and two alloys, with varied bell sizes. The result is a collection of cymbals each of which has something unique to offer. Here's a quick synopsis of my impressions on each model:
8" bronze with small bell: high-pitched, quick decay.
8" bronze with large bell: low-pitched, gongy sound, slightly longer decay.
8" nickel-silver with large bell: low-pitched, gongy sound, medium decay.
10" bronze with small bell: high-pitched, nice splash sound, good sustain. I especially liked this one for drumset and timbale work.
10" bronze with large bell: low-pitched, doesn't sound quite as pleasing compared to the small-bell model but still unique on its own merit, medium decay.
10" nickel-silver with large bell: low-pitched, a little gongy, medium decay.
12" nickel-silver with large bell: full sound, a little gongy, medium decay.
In general, the bronze splashes with small bells tend to have a higher and livelier sound, while the nickel-silver and other splashes with a larger bell tend to sound lower in pitch and gongier, in a positive and unique way."
