Historical Background

Rassem cymbals were manufactured as part of a group of cymbals including Symara and Kamala, often associated with the Dallas-Carlton and John Grey drum lines. They date back to the mid-20th century, with some sources indicating production could overlap with other small-scale cymbal makers in England or possibly by European suppliers.

Construction and Materials

These cymbals were often made from nickel silver alloys, rather than the more common bronze used in modern cymbals.

Nickel silver provides a unique tonal quality: it produces a strong, clear tone without the shimmer or complexity of tin bronze cymbals.

Sound Characteristics

These cymbals are brighter and more focused than traditional B20 bronze, although not as bright as brass cymbals. Their unique alloy gives them a vintage character, suitable for styles seeking a warm and defined “classic” cymbal sound.
