Review: It's a loud cymbal, chime-like in tone, with lots of dissonant overtones when hit with the shank of the stick like a crash cymbal. Tapping it with the tip of the stick does produce tighter "dings", much like one would hear from a pingy ride cymbal. Hitting the bell with the shank produces an interesting sound, but not as loud as hitting the edge. This is lower in pitch and slightly louder than its 12" sibling.

Also of note in the design is that there is a flange in the profile. Check out the pics.
