Review: "The 14" hi-hats were more laid back than the Studio hats, having a slightly dryer tone, lower pitch, and less projection. The definition was good and sticking well-articulated, but these hats aren't going to cut through loud music as well as their thicker counterparts. They would perform well in most jazz situations and in a number of lower-volume rock/pop siuations. Everything depends on the application and your taste."
