Review: Normally I am not at a loss for words when it comes to describing cymbals, but this one is an exception. The sound is totally unique. It's not at all like a Swish or China. The flat flanged edge produces a white noise-like "kah" when hit while the cymbal bell down. When struck while it was mounted bell up, it produced a slightly higher pitch, and I felt like there was a bit more "crash" to the overall feel. What I liked best about this was rolling on the edge, bell down. (I think I saw Neil Peart use his Pang for a big roll in "Xanadu".)
Zildjian's literature when this model was introduced mentioned a "crisp, cutting, ride sound." While riding the 20" or 22" size might produce some interesting results, I felt that this size isn't suitable for this purpose. Mine weighs 1562g, which is a heavy Medium Thin Crash, or a light Medium Crash, both 18", like the Pang. I feel that this closeness in weight does give me the impression that this cymbal has a punchy quality that seems more crash-y than china-like.
I did make a video of my cymbal, linked above. Both sides are played.
