Review: "My favorite crashes in both weight categories were the 17" and 18" models. They all responded well with full voices and powerful sustain. Surprisingly, I found that the 18" Medium could be used quite nicely as a "big-finish crash" in a lower-volume situation, played with a 5A stick. It didn't have to be walloped in order for it to sound full; it spoke out quite readily at a medium impact."

Review: (This is for the re-designed (2nd Generation) Z Custom cymbals) "The Rock Crashes are similar to the Mediums, with the main difference being that they possess a higher fundamental pitch. The bell on the 16" is of proportionate size to the 18", and they are both killers. The weight of these cymbals allows you to think of riding on them as well."

Review: The Z Custom Rock Crashes are really explosive and loud. They're also bright, the 16" size especially. The 18" was ideal - the perfect weight and size to not be overly cutting nor bright. If you're looking for crashes that are a little less than what the Rocks have to offer, I recommend the Medium Crash model in this line.
Used as rides, stick definition was decent, especially the 18". I used this size in a blues band, its volume and wash were nice for that setting.
