Chakra Gongs

Introduction: ?
Background: The Meinl Sonic Energy Chakra Gongs are handmade masterpieces from Germany. Each chakra gong is tuned to a specific frequency (based on Hans Cousto's calculations of "The Cosmic Octave") that helps to activate the respective chakra. The elaborate hammering provides visual stimulation and creates the undeniable sound character necessary to awaken your senses. Finally, a special sandblasting technique is used to fuse the chakra symbol into the center of each gong. For care, we recommend the use of the Meinl Gong Polish (MGP).1

Don Conreaux Eight Corners of Heaven Mirror Gong

Introduction: ?
Background: The Eight Corners of Heaven Mirror Gong was developed in collaboration with the Gong Master “Don Conreaux”. This gong features a unique appearance with ancient mysterious symbols set against a mirror finish. The eight runic glyphs represent the cycle of life and suggest that the sound of the gong originates in the eight corners of heaven propelling the cycle of life on earth. Both sides of the gong are finished with a mirror surface allowing the player to see himself, listeners, or other gong players in an ensemble. This is also beneficial in meditation and therapy use for self-mirroring and reflecting surrounding lights.2

Table Gongs

Introduction: ?
'Background: Meinl's Table Gongs are divided into three varities: The MEINL Opera Gong is traditionally handcrafted in China by using a special bronze alloy. It has a very pronounced bent-out shape with a large center dot. The Opera Gong plays an important role in traditional Chinese opera due to its descending pitch. An audible glissando effect can be achieved with a very short sustain. The gong comes with an appropriate beater.11
The MEINL White Gongs are traditionally handcrafted in China by using a special bronze alloy. These gongs are also known under the name Double-Light-Gong due to the bright surface on both sides. They have a very flat profile with a bended rim for a powerful and splashy clear sound with medium sustain. Each gong ships with a beater designed to correspond with the gong size.12
The MEINL Tiger Gong is traditionally handcrafted in China by using a special bronze alloy. The name tells you already that the roaring and growling sound is reminiscent to that of a tiger. It has a very pronounced bent-out shape with a large center dot. Similar to the Opera Gong, it has a good amount of splash, but in comparison less of a descending bend effect. The gong comes with an appropriate beater.13

Thai Gongs

Introduction: ?
Background: Crafted in Thailand in the traditional Burmese style, the Meinl Sonic Energy Thai Gongs are a beautiful blend of sound and craftsmanship. Made from bronze, these gongs produce deep, resonant tones that are ideal for meditation, sound therapy, and musical performances. Carefully hand-hammered, each gong is unique in both appearance and sound, giving every piece its own character and resonance. This handcrafted quality extends to the included traditional mallet, which may vary slightly in style, adding an authentic touch.

The mallets are made from fabric sourced from Buddhist monk robes, with a core made from repurposed jute rice sacks, emphasizing sustainability and cultural significance. The gongs can be played either by hand or mounted on a stand, offering flexibility for different playing styles and settings. A distinctive feature of these gongs is the raised central boss, surrounded by an elegantly carved floral design.10
