Wuhan's Description: <<< - >>>
Review: This model is different than many gongs in that it features a lathed, steep profile like that of a cymbal. The flat surface in the middle area looks to have been scraped finely on the front, while the back part of this area has deep scrapes that overlap at about 30 degrees. This has also been hammered on the front's flat surface, and on the profile, nearest the downturned edge. Even though Wuhan calls this 9", this one measures slightly smaller at 8.75".
So how does it sound? It's interesting, as it does pitch bend up from the initial tone. This was most noticeable when giving a good "whack" with the mallet provided with this gong. The pitch was pleasing, from medium at first bending up to high. Mine weighed in at 410g, so it's a got a bit of force behind its sound.
