UFIP Bionic

Introduction: 1997?
Background: Bionic series is actually a sub-series of the company's Experience series.1
Innovation: The Bionic series utilizes what UFIP terms a "two metal finish," which combines the surface finishing of their Natural series (a fairly rough, unlathed finish) with a brilliant finish. Splashes, crashes, and Chinas are quite smooth, with extensive lathing on both their top and bottom surfaces. Rides are much rougher, with less lathing and more pronounced hammering on both their surfaces. Hi-hats split the difference, with rough upper surfaces and smoother undersides. All of the cymbals are highly polished.1
Alloy: B20
Quality: Professional
Production: The cymbals are subjected to pre-aging, deep hammering, and hand buffing. This treatment gives the cymbals "a well-balanced, somewhat focused, and warmer overall sound."1
Applications: Medium to high volume settings • Live playing
Users:
Sound: According to the company, these particular cymbals are "noticeably heavier than general-purpose cymbals to achieve a brighter, drier, more penetrating sound." The thickness, taper, and profile of the cymbals are supposed to allow them to "thrive in louder, harder studio and live playing situations."1
