Zildjian's Description: <<< - >>>
Review: With a flat bottom cymbal that has 4 holes, these hats are crispy. Zildjian's name for these are apt, as they have a fast sustain. While doing a side by side comparison with my A Platinum 14" New Beat Hi-Hat pair, those were slightly lower pitched, presumably due to the slightly heavier Quick Beats. Greats such as Omar Hakim, and Simon Phillips have used this pairing, but don't be misled in believing these aren't versatile. These could be used in many settings, even Hard Rock, as they have quite a bit of "cut" to them. I have also seen some drummers use the bottom cymbal with a dark sounding top- such as a K series cymbal, with great results.

Review: "Even in full swing, the Quick Beat hats can be clearly heard, snipping their way through the various instrument frequencies while opening and closing swiftly. For some of the slower instrumentals, we like the effect of playing on the ride while simultaneously producing an off-beat pedal 'chick' on the hi-hat. For this we swap over to the pair of 14" New Beat hi-hats which applies a complementary level of volume while helping to smoothly cement the groove."
