Introduction: 1985
Redesigned: 2001 (New computer-controlled robotic hammering techniques, along with a technique called lathe-tuning.)3
Discontinued: 20051
Background: Raker cymbals were uniformly hammered, resulting in a well balanced vibration behavior. Penetrating sounds for high energy playing. All Raker cymbals have a heat treated bell. Moreover, all Raker ride cymbals feature a forged bell and are famous for their clear and cutting ping sound.2
Innovation: Used phosphor bronze in the alloy for extra brightness, sustain, and clarity. The Lightning Crash & Splash cymbals were originally offered in their own series - Lightning. In 1996 Meinl released a "10th Anniversary Edition" that feature different bells that are hand-hammered and shaped differently for a stronger tone and more "high-quality" sounds.4
