Since the Paiste Signature series was introduced, there have been a few different versions of the Dry Heavy Ride.

  • Thanks to Dennis Leeflang for the information on this page!

Version #1

  • This version was made from 1989 to 1992, maybe into the beginning of 1993.
  • There are lots of small hammer marks, and they almost seem to appear randomly. Sometimes the marks don't touch the other marks, and sometimes there are a couple of small marks that are so close they appear to make one large mark.
Version 1 Dry Hammer Marks
  • In addition, there are 3 "rings" of large hammer marks.
Version 1 Larger Hammer Marks & Rings
  • All of the hammering seems to be down from the top side.

Version #2

  • Starting in 1992 or 1993, this version lacks the several small hammer marks of Version #1 in favor of large sized marks, that are more separated in appearance.
Version 2 Hammer Marks
  • Also, it appears that these marks come from being hammered on the bottom side.

"Monad" (Danny Carey) Signature Model

  • This ride is made with two distinct characteristics. Firstly it has a purple Colorsound finish, and it's only available in the 22" size.
  • The bell does NOT have the Colorsound finish. It has a Reflector finish.
  • There are graphics on the top side.
