Review: It's a loud cymbal, chime-like in tone, with lots of dissonant overtones when hit with the shank of the stick like a crash cymbal. Tapping it with the tip of the stick does produce tighter "dings", much like one would hear from a pingy ride cymbal. (This is more defined on the 14" size versus the 12" one) Hitting the bell with the shank produces an interesting sound, but not as loud as hitting the edge. This is lower in pitch and slightly louder than its 12" sibling.
