| + | '''Review:''' "If stick definition is what you look for in a ride, the Classics Customs deliver it in spades. The 20" Powerful ride had definition and clarity aplenty, especially in the bell. Its decay would perhaps be too long if you tend to play with a loose, open feel, or if you like to crash your ride. The 22" Powerful ride ($400) was crystal clear without sounding too metallic. Its character was reminiscent of the thick "ping" sound that's been recorded on so many memorable rock albums. Both rides worked better when I played faster patterns, including double-stroke rolls that required clear articulation. Crashing the rides didn't prove to be a good idea, but the crashes I mentioned earlier would cover the crash/ride arena well enough." | ||

Review: "Rides are complex and good ones should be subtle. These two aren't. They are fairly heavyweight, but they sound tinny and thin. There is a sharp stick response but no great depth.
They do open up if you pile in with a heavy stick and big tip - which we suppose is the idea. And the strident pitch probably does help to cut through. But we're not fully convinced - the sound is simply too toppy. And the bell on the 22" is lumpen. Dead."
