They really fill the gap between splash and crash cymbals, giving incredibly sensitive "crash response" even at low impact. If you've ever tried to get a "crash" sound out of a 16" thin crash with a brush, you know that you just can't set the metal into enough motion for the cymbal to open up. But the Class Fast Crashes respond fully if you breathe on them! And yet, their volume is completely controlled.
